I named it from some of my neuro studies. Axonal signaling is often referred to as "saltatory" coming from the Latin, saltare, meaning "to jump"-- referring to how the signal jumps down the axon, slowing down at the nodes of Ranvier where the myelin breaks.
It somewhat scares me that I know exactly what you are talking about - it was in one of my exams.

I like optimism. Minus anything you like from 0% percent but I don't think you will feel better for the exercise. :P
