One for the Aussies and New Zelanders

What is it like to live in a place so tropical that you have to get on a plane to see real winter?  Here in the South its the same somewhat but they can just drive to get it.  Do you fell you are missing anything?

I can drive to see snow in the winter. Been a couple of times when I was a kid, didn't much care for it to be honest.

According to Google Maps, I'm about 90mins from Mount Donna Buang.

It does snow in parts of Australia, and not all of it is tropical. Queensland, and particularly north Queensland is though. I flew into Cairns a couple of weeks ago and flying over the palm trees was quite beautiful.

The weather in Queensland is a lot like Thailand. Can get very humid.

Although I fantasise about snow filled winters, I don't think I could live with them.

I grew up around the beach, and I just cannot imagine being kept inside all the time and freezing my tits off anytime I wanted to go somewhere.

Cold weather is shit.   Shovel the snow off your driveway and then go out on a road with a bunch of idiots that are driving on icy/snowy roads.   Not my idea of fun.

Yes well, the no leaves thing. You do know that 99% of our trees here are evergreen right, so even in the snow you will have green trees. But the hills that are about 15min drive away will get a very light snow day say once a decade.

I find the snow to be cold, wet, and generally unpleasant. Plus nobody tells you that snowballs hurt like fuck.

So I come off as American. I'm not sure if I should feel insulted (no offence to the Americans here  :zoinks: ).

Just joking. Interesting though.

Well, yes, I was going to say I should have known you were Australian because your posts usually make sense....but then I thought all the patriotic Americans might not get the joke.

'Cos they aren't as cool in the funny department as us  :P
