why is it that when i am drinking alcohol that i crave salty foods?

right now i am satisfied eating some honet roasted cashews....very satisfied.

I can tell. The alcohol makes you piss out lots of salt. Simple as that. Your potassium-sodium balance is disturbed by drinking.
