I have always wondered what happens if someone answers "yes" to the sensitive type question.

I would not be surprised if there are people who answered it with yes.
I know I answered it with being hypersensitive, and I'm still here.

How do I get rid of the email icon under my username? And why is the IM icon blue when others are gray? I didn't list an IM.

Hello. New member here.

I was just in my profile settings and clicked the box for my email to be hidden, but when I view my profile I can still see it. Is that just because I'm looking at my own profile? Can you see it? I put something silly in there just in case it is visible, but will correct it if it's really hidden.

I just checked and your email address is hidden to everyone except for administrators and of course you can see your own email address yourself.

The IM icon is a shortcut so people can send one another Private Messages here.

I never suggested that you did. but if you set your options to hide your email address, then why is it useful for the forum software to display your own email address to only yourself?

I think it makes sense for someone to be able to see their own email address even if they don't want anyone else to see it.  What if you have more than one email address and can't remember which one you used to register here or what if you want to change it?
