i got a strange morbid temptation to catch the show when its on. in the ad for the show, this blonde stupid chick talked about how she liked aerobics and lipstick and stuff, but what fascinated me is that she is born and raised in norway, but used an american syntax in her norwegian. in other words, she goes to live in hollywood for a couple of years, and becomes a TOTAL fucking retard.
one thing is to have lived in another country your whole life, and then get an accent from there. another is to live abroad for a few years, and totally forgetting the grammar of your own language.

In Poland, when people try to be amusing they write English words they way they pronounce them in Polish which annoys me so much as it's lame.

In Poland, when people try to be amusing they write English words they way they pronounce them in Polish which annoys me so much as it's lame.

oh oh oh i was about to mention, but i was so pissed off i forgot: you ever get those TV narrators, who forget their own language too? what assholes! they love using english words to replace more and more, the norwegian and english word for "shopping" is almost identical, yet they insist on using the english. we have words for make-up and fashion "sminke" and "mote" yet they insist on using the english, but it gets worse, and more mundane words are mentioned in english. its as if their agenda is to ruin their own language...

i also hate when they pronounce non-english foreign names, in an english sounding way, like if theyre talking about spanish places, and go all "barcelawna", i want them to just stop breathing... :I

Hence why I haven't watched Polish TV for ages now.  Some words like jeans = dżinsy for example, have always been there purely because there was no other word for them in the Polish language but lately everything is getting English-ised.  The news too.  Our word for it is "wiadomości" but people are starting to call it "newsy"  

Going back to what I said before, writing English words the Polish way, to give an example: nice = najs.  It's so fucking annoying

and yes, moda/mote comes from latin i think, so many languages share it. i bet we got it from french.
sminke we probably got from german. we took our "police" from german, politi sweden took it from french, polis. english took it from french too btw.

the polish got lots of german influence at some point, i suspect 

"newsy" is totally lame tho, but we got similar trends yes... i envy the spanish cus they dont even know english yet all pop music in spain is in spanish. for some reason, to be norwegian, and sing in norwegian is "silly", its such a sad and idiotic notion. they dont even do it in english for the prospects of international recognition or anything, they simply consider their own language to be worse than english, sillyer or stupid-sounding or whatever.

Singing in Polish is considered shameful too and tbh, most Polish bands ARE shit  :lol:  It's either a bunch of old men, a single poncy guy or an overtly made-up whore.  Like this thing called Mandaryna:

The only recent actually good band that sings in Polish that I can think of, is this band Happysad.

nono, im fascinated by obscurity, and poland is definitely... osbcure
other than the german occupation, and smoldering people not much is known about poland. nowadays we got polish carpenters, who build for shit, but at least you barely have to pay them. a bottle of vodka and theyre happy, but dont expect your balcony to support your weight

obviously, norwegians have a love hate relationship to polish laborers "it was SO cheap! but unfortunately grandfather died when the house collapsed."

i got a whole bunch of poles next door here, all guys, all old, all carpenters, all alkies AND, most hilariously, theyre anti-immigration

i usually avoid them, cus im aspie, and they love to chat, but another aspie friend of mine insisted on stopping to greet and chat (to mess w me), while we chatted there was a sudden series of sharp bangs nearby "Bang! Bang bang bang! Bang!"
now, in norway this is ANYTHING but a shootout
so as a joke i went "dont worry, its just the local mob."
