I think it would help to be able to read the first article it was referring to- but from what I understood the first article mentioned that a lot of autistic kids like to watch Thomas, but people took that to imply that the article was suggesting that the show caused autism.

I remember reading the article. It certainly didn't suggest that watching Thomas the Tank Engine caused autism. But it did offer the fact that TTTE is popular with autistic children as evidence to support the idea that TTTE was one of the worst TV shows of all time.

I thought it was pretty unnecessary.

Yes it was negative.  Saying that its popularity with autistic kids proves that it is the worst kids show of all time.

I agree that comment was unnecessary.

I can understand why it is popular with autistic kids- the limited, exaggerated facial expressions on the characters; the fact that each episode seems to follow a set pattern; and it also seems a very gentle show.

Hey, I like Thomas the Tank Engine! My son did, too, when he was about two or three, and we had to buy every damned engine available at the toy store.

The show also featured the talents of Ringo Starr--he did all the voices. :D
