The karma system here is kind of a joke most of the time, really. Â It started out as something people could use to applaud posts they found insightful or funny or smite posts they found offensive. Â Some people still use it for that, but others like to play with it. Â At one time one member liked to applaud or smite to keep all members' karmas at a certain number she liked. Â Right now, I think it is a hoot to try to keep McJagger's karma at 69 so I applaud or smite him if he is within a point of it. Â As far as I know there is no way to take it off for a single member. Â We had a vote whether or not to keep it for the board because some people think it is not good for Aspies, but at that time, a majority of voters voted to keep it. Â
If you want to increase someone else's karma, you click the one on the left under their karma which is Yay! at this time. Â If you want to decrease someone else's karma, you click the one on the right which at this time is Ghey!.
