I have been - I knit a row or two then see if anyone has posted before going back to it 
knitting near the pooter? fatal!
my knitting is Somewhere Else, even away from where i read/eat/etc. then i can just spread the five million balls of yarns everywhere, and not have to clear them up every time i have to move.
and the first person who says, "see? being entirely alone has its benefits!" gets a kicking - since when does being able to knit unmolested/undistracted compensate, eh?
