What I'm thinking, next time someone comes to me with a lot of problems and seems miserably depressed I think I'm probably gonna envite em out to get royally fucked up. I mean it kinda depends on the person, some people have problems with that already, but still - to anyone who has good checks on themselves its usually a good thing. I mean it would work out best if my friends were already having one of those 8 or 9 person get togethers but all the same, I'd still take em out to the bar, play some pool, and buy em a pitcher or two.
Born into this world for one inherent purpose: to drop science and drop it heavy.

I sympathize a little, then try to help them solve the problem. If the depression has been going on for awhile, I give my "Go to the doctor" speech.

Normally I'd try to help them out and that.

But if they keep on doing it as an obvious attempt of attention and in general make it look like they've the worst life ever, I'll tell them to fuck off.

Give them the aspie stare?

Just kidding. Would most likely say, 'I'm sorry'. Shameful female habbit, the sorry. We apologize for the world. My car had a flat this morning; I'm sorry. My dog died; sorry about that. Anyway, people saying that sort of thing usually don't want advice anyway, but rather need to vent. Guess the sorry works okay for that.

try and help if they're saying it to me directly. i am shit at helping with things like that tho so rarely have anything of any use to say

if they're saying it randomly and not to me (like on a forum) i probably just stay out of it now

1. i am not very good at helping people who are depresssed
2. it encourages me to whine about my own problems too

If you ask a few questions, you might be able to narrow the problem down a bit so that solutions are easier to find.
