Exactly. Think of how much power is saved from not having to turn on lights until later.

Daylight savings is GREEN!!  :zoinks:

Is that like the 'daylight savings makes your curtains fade from the extra sunlight in the day' argument?

No, because daylight savings doesn't give you extra sunlight, it just shifts it from all that time before you are awake to that time before you go to bed.

What fucking retard thinks it fades your curtains? Nature does that (or are QLDers too retarded from fucking their sisters etc?)
:o

Oh, it was a joke. Some rednecks up here came up with the most absurd things to make a case against us having it.

The faded curtains was one of the more deadbrained one....I mean, WTF?

I remember the last time I was in QLD and the sun came up at like 4:30AM. I mean WTF is up with that?

Sorry, maybe I was going for a early morning jog up the street, the sun does shine out of my ass, you know...(OK, bad joke, it's been a long day!)

But you are right, in summer, yep, the sky starts to become light very early. I have had insomnia pretty badly lately, and times I've gone to bed, like 4.30, I hear the kookaburras waking up....not exactly quiet to sleep to!

My normal pattern is I wake up fairly early in summer, but with the weather here, it is quite beautiful to head to the beach at 5am.

Yeah early morning beach is nice. Used to go to the beach at 8-9am (DST) when we lived 10min walk from the beach. Spent 2 hours there then went home for the hottest part of the day. Was back there at 5pm til 8pm.

Good times.

I haven't been to the beach since I was 11, and I may never go again. The ocean is beautiful, but I'm too afraid of  :shark: !

I'm more scared of jelly fish than sharks.

Oh and I wont swim at the beach in the middle of the night, that's when giant octopus and squid drag you under to your death.

Really? Statistically, there are more things to be scared of in life....

http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/statistics/GAttack/mapusa.htm

Actually, it's interesting of the ratio of Hawaii attacks vs deaths is quite high in comparison with Florida's.

If you really want to shit yourself, Australia's ration of attacks vs deaths is pretty full on....our sharks are efficient killers!

Owe war sint verswunden

Owê wie jæmerlîche junge liute tuont,

"Alas, where have they gone to, year on weary year?
Was it all a dream then, my life's, my love's career?
Things I took for granted, were they really so?
Sleep, sleep overtook me, and then I didn't know.
Now I have awakened, but like a foreign land
Are things once as familiar as my own right hand.
The people and the places that as a child I knew
Now seem strange and distant, a tale which isn't true.
Children I once played with are no longer young and proud.
The forests have been levelled, the meadows have been ploughed.
But for the river flowing where it always flowed
My heart could never carry its heavy, heavy load.
Some who paid me honour now turn their eyes away;
The world is too ungrateful when one is old and grey.
Fondly I remember what joy there used to be.
Those days have vanished traceless as ripples on the sea,
Evermore, alas!

Alas, for the young people, how lamentable they are.
Once they were so courtly, a better crowd by far.
All they know is worry! Why are they so sad?
Though I search the world over, not one I find is glad.
Dancing, laughing, singing are no-where in their creed.
No Christian ever saw  a more pathetic breed.
Just look at how the ladies bind up their hair;
Proud knights attired in costumes the peasantry might wear.
Unlovely, unkind letters have come to us from Rome;
Distress caused at a distance brings despondency at home.
Once we lived not badly. It troubles me within:
When laughter turns to mourning, what then do we win?
The wild birds in the branches, they too lament our plight.
How can I continue to hope for some respite?
Oh, but this is foolish, to be so sorely vexed!
To seek joy in this world is to lose it in the next,
Evermore, alas!

Alas, how we've been poisoned by things which taste so sweet.
If you take the honey, gall is what you'll eat.
The world without is pleasing, white and green and red;
Within, dark black's her colour, dismal like the dead.
Whoever she seduces  should look to be redeemed;
Penance for some great sin may be lighter than it seemed.
Take note, you knights, consider! This is your travail:
You wear the shining helmet, he shirt of strong chain mail.
Yours is the sturdy long-shield, the consecrated sword;
I wish that I were worthy of such a bless'd reward.
What riches I, a poor man, could then accumulate.
(I don't mean gold or silver or any vast estate!)
An eternal crown of glory would then my brow enhance;
Any simple soldier could win one with his lance.
If I could cross the ocean, if that could come to pass,
My song would be rejoicing, and nevermore 'alas'!
Nevermore alas!"

Walther von der Vogelweide, 1229

*ear-splitting whiny voice* It took me forever to delete all that poetry stuff to get the one quote I wanted, and that makes me  :bigcry: !

How's that?  :laugh:

Yes, avoiding the ocean is a small price to pay for staying alive...I can't figure out these people who climb into cages at the zoo!  :duh:

Yeah, possibly deluded into believing they "have a way" with animals, and that they will actually connect in some way with that lion, tiger or polar bear.  :-\

Come to California, our sharks are on a low-fat diet. You should be safe.  :thumbup:
