I can't imagine having a black ceiling. I wouldn't like it. :zombiefuck:

Neither can I really...but Pinterest + wine = bad decisions.

I'm striving for the look of acoustical tile without the price. What I have is a poorly fitted drop ceiling, mis-matched ceiling tile, patched, pink tinged walls, some wallpaper, and some paint from the clearance aisle.

The laundry room looks like a total shit storm, whole room needs redone.

Ha! you found a line that the Stones neglected  to use.

{ EDIT: ooooh, that ceiling really does look good! I'm guessing your laudry looks nothing like, though? ]

I wonder why Jack doesn't like it.
It's not really about the number, but yes zero is important, because if karma should happen, returning it to zero makes it less likely for me to know it. Not really sure why those creepy little karma messages twist me up; they just do. There's also some weird intolerable pressure of the karma system; should I give them karma back, how little is too little for someone else, how much is too much, and what does this mean to them? There's the option to be karma free here, keeping a member at zero. Tried that once long ago, but then realized it's based on maxing out both my negative and positive karma with admin action. This action put me as top ranking in both negative and positive karma stats for the board and some members didn't like that, so I stopped being karma free and members are kind enough to keep me that way. SG called it mutual love.

Creepy? I view positive karma as compliments. Can't get enough of them.

IQ, surely that would darken the room and make it look more closed in. Plus that particular ceiling looks like one you'd have in an office.

The home I grew up in had a white drop ceiling like in an office. They're also sometimes found in basements. Judging from the window, that photo is a basement.

Huh, maybe it's an American thing. I have never been inside a basement in the UK, so I wouldn't know what they typically looked like.

Suspended ceilings in basements are an easy way to hide the wiring and piping in the flooring of the upper level, while also allowing easy access to them for repair.

New Orleans basements are above ground.

Exactly what it's hiding...they are also normally ugly as hell, unless you can afford the nicer ceiling tile.

My home is what I believe is considered a raised ranch style, the main entry level is the basement.

"I see a ceiling and I want it painted black..."
Wouldn't it be easier to stick black wallpaper or something like that on each tile?
I can do upside down chocolate moo things!

Get it high gloss. And then Christmas lights poking through. Or some tiles not black but mirrors.

Just go for black. If it does not work out, drink more wine and wrap every tile in tinfoil.

That's cool. When I bought my current house, I painted the boys ceiling in a dark navy blue and covered it with glow in the dark stars. The stars eventually came down but the ceiling colour stayed and my current agent kind of hated me for it because apparently it was a bitch to cover up and make white again.

Tried that first.
Wrinkle city and it wouldn't stick.
Tried paste, tried spray adhesive and fabric.... :P

I had spares and have been trying stuff for awhile. They are that textured compressed cardboard shit.

I've been looking at these ugly mis-matched SOB's since the early 90's when my dad put them up. They really need tossed to the curb, but that's not on the menu right now. Words cannot express my undying love for drop ceilings.
