Yes, it's over. I came home an hour or two ago and the eye is now starting to hurt. A lot. I was on IV meds that kept me pain-free, more or less, but obviously that's gone now. Things are pretty swollen and bruisy, I guess, but the surgeon said the operation went well. I will probably need more surgery later, to move and repair another muscle that he didn't dare to touch today.

It's really hurting now. :(

Didn't the surgeon give you a prescription for pain medicine?  Maybe you should call them and let them know how much it's hurting?

No codein or anything? Eye surgery hurts like hell afterwards; I think that goes for the eye muscles too.

Didn't the surgeon give you a prescription for pain medicine?  Maybe you should call them and let them know how much it's hurting?

No pain meds other than paracetamol, no. I got an eye drops prescription but they are for fending off infections. I will call them if the paracetamol doesn't help. He did mention diclofenac but in the end I didn't get a prescription.

Ah.  When I had my first cataract surgery I had a very sharp pain in my eye.  I called the resident at  home (silly university made them give us home phone numbers) at night.  He suggested repositioning the metal eye guard.  Pain resolved.
