Is the Thalys a train route?

No, it's a highspeed train. 

We voted for a high speed train bond here in California (even though I usually don't vote for bonds) but the state is too broke to do it right now.

There was to be a high speed train to connect the north east to the western part of the Netherlands. Was supposed to run not too far from where I live. But, despite all the promises to the people in the north east, lack of money did stop that project.
