Some are, others are just different.

Getting new neighbours. They smoke different cigarettes. Have a different washing detergent. And I sure hope they are going to be better cooks. They can hardly be worse cooks.

What did the previous naighbors cook? 

They deep fried a lot of things I think, without refreshing the fat they used often enough.
Lots of greasy stuff they ate. And sometimes you would just get nauseous going up the attic, because some of the air of their kitchen would get through the walls there.

My other neighbour can sometimes make me drool with what she is cooking. And I sometimes evoke the same reaction in her. She is great. Known for her inability to deal with people, and known for her amazing skills with dogs. I get along very well with her.

I wonder if I annoy the neighbours with my cooking.  We share a wall, and the smell of solvents came through it when they were decorating a while back, but I don't know if cooking smells get through, and I've never smelled their cooking.  Sometimes I overcook vegetables, and cruciferous vegetables can create a pretty strong, sulphurous stench when overcooked, particularly brussels sprouts and cauliflower.

I am sure that none of your normal food is anywhere nearly as aromatic as the solvents they used when they invaded your spatial privacy with their work. It would actually take days and days of constant warfare with very strong Asian spices to even have them notice (all aside from the fact that they probably do not have your set of senses).

I am not sure that there is a way to fight back.

It might be better to just let this great injustice go and find yourself something more productive upon which to dwell.
