Dreading the next few days because of (minor?) health complications for the Princess Royal.

I send best wishes to the three of you.

Evidently the Princess Royal is susceptible to the tardive dyskinesia (uncontrollable muscle movements) reaction in some anti-psychotic drugs.  So far she's had this reaction to 3 drugs.  So now she's miserable with head twisting/jerking (intermittent thankfully) until the medication clears her system.  It's been about 24 to 30 hours and has a (?) while to go.  The treatment is OTC Benadryl, so she's going to be sleepy as well.  I just have to be with her when they occur, about 2 or 3 times an hour.  Boring as all get out for me, but much worse for her.

Ah, I have heard about that and I'm sorry your Princess is so uncomfortable. Glad she has you.  :viking:

No fun. I hope they find a drug that works without the side effects.

Well, it got worse this morning, going on constantly over 2 hours.  Called the psychiatrist (whom I'm beginning to love dearly) and he's prescribed Xanax as a temporary solution.  The head twisting may be a sign of severe anxiety or depression since the Benedryl isn't slowing/stopping the movement.  I'm going to pamper her and make her feel as little stress as possible to see if that helps.

That is why I am on a low dose of haloperidol, any higher and I start to stiffen up. Risperdal made me get loads of twitches in my arms. It is a weird experience. Hope the Xanax works for your Princess.
