Put it this way Bazza - I hate 'chick flicks', my favourite films are Pulp Fiction, the Kevin Smith films (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, etc), twisted immature shit like Freddy Got Fingered - but I fucking love Heathers. Its twisted, and Christian Slater is mental in a good way in it.  8)

black comedy? it's mainly white girls and christian slater! it's not a chick flick. It's more of a comedy that makes fun of of suicide. It's funny as hell.

They probably mean black comedy as in comedy that makes fun of human suffering and has a twisted, morbid plot that is disturbing yet funny.

Also:
I'm under the impression that the actor who plays Jay isn't doing much but playing himself.
And as always, these are simply my worthless opinions.
Reverence is fine, Sanctity is silly.
We're all fucked, it helps to remember that.

But Christian Slater doesn't really act. He just is:-\

'kay... I guess I have to see it, then.

He sucked in Interview with the Vampire. But then again, damn near everybody in that film did, one way or another. D

Do Not Read The Book.  i repeat, Do Not Read The Book.  it's fucking atrocious - if i see the word "preternatural" more than once in a whole book, let alone on every other page, no jury in the land will convict me.

this version is all you need to know, anyway:

We've talked about that book before, haven't we? I think I said something like that about the word "preternatural". :D

I think the first book wasn't that bad. The second was readable but not good. The third was a mess. Etc.

we have.  i couldn't finish the second book.  as for the third...

i was only reading them cos the association with the initiatory journey, according to an HPS friend of mine.  i lost the will to live before i'd even finished the first.

and to think, anne rice is a best-selling author, and i got yet another rejection slip today...   ::)

Anne Rice is just outputting text these days. The last book by her that was reasonably good was the Witching Hour, and she's managed to output about a gazillion vampire books since then.

see what i mean?

i'm reading neil gaiman's "anansi boys", and have had hysterics at least four times already, even though i'm only about a quarter of the way through.  now there's someone who can write a book.  not literary, of course, but i love his mind...

anne rice has the back of one of her hands permanently attached to her forehead (BOHOF), in an angst way, which is why she can't fucking well write.
