Yay! You're right. Don't have one of these yet.  :mushie:

I think she's beautiful. I seriously love her eyes.

I don't know. This past summer I said that I wasn't going to go away next summer because I found it too stressful this year. But I don't think I can go that long without being by the water. So maybe Summer 2010. We'll have to see.

When were you dx'ed?
When I was 32. It wasn't until my son was dx'd first that everyone who saw him said...uh yanno, apple doesn't fall far from the tree. ;) Looking back, I had all the signs my entire life. But my Mum said "we just called you eccentric and we thought you didn't fit in as much because we moved around so much." Her favourite aspie story was when they sent me to nursery school and it said on my first term report "S does not seem to know how to play with children. She seems much more comfortable staying on the sidelines and talking to the teachers instead." My parents said they had to teach me how to play and when asked what I was talking about with the adults they told her "Mrs. Brown's divorce" (my teacher).

Did it change anything for you? I know for me, getting an official dx went a long ways toward understanding myself and being comfortable with who I am.

Absolutely. I have pics from my trip out east of a really old jail that I went to and the sign that was posted where the prisoners passed through before taken to the gallows to be hung.  :hide:

I had the same feeling. I can fly under the radar quite well when I'm in situations where I didn't want my aspie side to be as noticable but that's because I was a theatre major and I spent years playing a part. I felt like when I got my dx, I didn't have to play the part anymore. I could just be myself. It took awhile to get used to. I had to figure some stuff out, lost some friends over it who said they didn't like the "new me" (whatever, they never knew the real me because I never let them see it). I used to be myself at home, and be the part every time I stepped out the door but then it got to be too much. I had an honest to goodness breakdown in March because I couldn't hold it in anymore and then I stopped going out. But now, I'm at my most comfortable.

I also have agoraphobia though so social stuff is still hard.
