Saw a mini documentary, featuring two people. A believer and a science journalist, watching the movie 2012 together.

Amazing

Saw the emergency plans of the believer too. She has a self inflating raft ready at the attic window. And had food and clothes packed already to take with her. The movie had only strengthened her in her beliefs.

if mayans can predict the future, imagine what movie directors can predict, with their advanced equipment (cameras, microphones)

yes, its hard for us to grasp, but people are THIS stupid, they will give nothing any thought whatsoever, its much easyer to not think. many many people believe in movies, simply by an attitude of "a movie director surely knows what hes talking about" with absolutely NO further thought.

What part of END OF THE FUCKING WORLD does she not understand? Going by the literal definition, you're fucked no matter how prepared you are for it.  :zoinks:

So yeah, that makes no sense whatsoever lol.
Existence actually has two broad meanings despite its apparent meaningless. The constant reconciliation of all its parts, and the conservation of any closed system as a whole.

Morality can be extrapolated from these meanings to make these two commandments of godless morality: 1). Be in harmony with one another and 2). Care for the environment.

Laughed my arse off. She had planned everything in the minute detail.
Kind of sad too, although, she was more fascinated than terrified I think. So, not that sad.
Everyone their own obsession.  :P

I'm going to see the movie 2012 tonight. If all that shit is true then I'll cut a deal with Yahweh  and laugh (in a pious way) at everyone else's predicament.  :hahaha:

Well the 'happy ending' pissed me off the most about 2012. Let me just say, IF all that shit really happened, it would be the greatest cataclysm in Earth's history and would very likely wipe out all life on Earth. It's not necessarily just the severity that would be the main killer, it would be also the simple fact it all happened simultaneously (in geological timeline terms).

Of course there's a happy ending.  It's a Hollywood movie.

Only if you want to see things get destroyed. It's basically disaster porn. Otherwise it's devoid of scientific reasoning and the plot is ridiculous. If you can't switch off your internal logic while watching it, you will go insane.

Of course there's a happy ending.  It's a Hollywood movie.

Well it ruined the entire film for me, because I wanted everyone to die. >:D

Well it ruined the entire film for me, because I wanted everyone to die. >:D

so the point of the movie is that the mayans were right, but they werent right anyway, after having been right in the first place?

Nah, it's all about watching the world go to shit (and it does quite epically and nearly everyone on Earth dies, but the ending was most bullshit), and no detailed elaboration is made on the whole Mayan predicted it thing. Only one simple comment in the entire film mentioned the Mayans from what I saw, and that person basically said that despite our technology it seems the Mayans knew this was going to happen ages ago; nothing else except for maybe a brief news report showing a suicide at a Mayan temple and the newsreader saying how the sun was acting a bit weird too.

The truth is, the film could have stood alone without even needing to refer to 2012 at all, and just be a junk disaster porn flick. But since 2012 arouses so much superstition, it was exploitation at it's finest to sell the movie.

Actually, if you want a very crude and somewhat accurate summary of the film, watch this flash animation.
