For some reason, I have always longed to travel back in time to medieval England.
I assume I feel a connection to it because of some of my ancestry, but why that particular period in time?
I'm not sure, it just fascinates me. One day I must  get to England, preferably to Ripon, where some of my roots are.  :viking:

There is a place in ripon called 'fountains abbey'  which dates back to the year 1100.   i think it was founded by monks.  anyway it's well worth a visit on your forthcoming trip cbc!!

i got family in north yorkshire too,  so i been there quite a bit.  Parts of yorkshire seem to me to be almost 'timeless'  -  all cloth caps and whippets!  The people are friendly too cbc i am sure they would give you a warm welcome

i have found generally the further north you go,  the friendlier the people get (in england)

yay there are lots of 'impressive' places like that in and around that area.  the yorkshire moors are breathtaking too.
