Here is a 1930s German cartoon mocking Mr. Roosevelt, btw. It's translated into Swedish. In short: the Statue of Liberty decides to take a look on how America has developed and Roosevelt guides her around the city to show her all the "progress". At the end she asks: "But surely, Mr Roosevelt, you were kidding when showing me all this?" "No, I wasn't." "Then put yourself on the base!" she says and throws herself into the ocean.
