What are haikus?

From Dictionary.com: " A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons."

I don't understand
what's so great about haikus.
Most of them just suck.

I had to 'yay' you for that, what is this world coming too  :P

Yay!  :D

First five syllables.
Then seven. Then five again.
What is the big deal?

There was an old man,
an old man from Nantucket.
His penis was huge.
