Has anyone heard of audiogenic reflex seizures in cats?

Liam had this. One day Kayleigh was dragging her fingernails down a comb and noticed that Liam had the strangest reaction - he would gag with his tongue out. Back then there wasn't any information on the net about it. Now there's plenty.

This link has a few videos of the phenomenon.

Mollie and Kira are both going to the vet on Saturday. Mollie needs her teeth checked and Kira needs a basic checkup and vaccination.

We may be getting a new kitten. A cute ginger and white boy. His name is Rumble but we may change that. Apparently he loves people so that's a plus. :)

Well we did buy the little one. Kayleigh keeps calling him Rowan. He's as cute as a bug's ear (my mum's expression).

Mollie and Rumble have sniffed each other, Mollie doesn't care, Rumble hissed.

Kira and Rumble are a bit more complicated. But they have progressed to washing the top of each other's heads. Kira, being the scaredy cat he is, spends most of his time under my bed ever since Rumble has been here. He's gradually making more effort to come out though.

Rumble has a really long tail - to the point that he's chased it. I really love his markings.

I've had
Siamese,
DSH Calico
DSH Ginger and White
DSH Black.

Now that I've had DSH Black that's the one that hit the spot for looks.

I might consider a Munchkin but the sleekness of black (my favorite colour) still wins my heart.

You'd love Kira then, he's all black. I feel we're lucky to have him, he came to us as a stray kitten and he looked grey.

I've had a Siamese cat before, he was a blue point. His name was Oman (named by my sister) and he was very loyal to me. He even slept under the blankets with me. Unfortunately, when I was living with my sister, I went to hospital to have my appendix out and Oman ran away, I think to look for me. I don't know what happened to him but I hope he found new owners. He'd be long dead of old age by now, at least I hope that he lived to old age too.

We had a bit of an emergency on Thursday night. Rowan ate his dinner as normal. Shortly after I went to bed, he threw up 5 times in the space of an hour. Something was irritating his stomach. Kayleigh was very concerned and woke me up so I could drive us to the emergency vet. It was a 45 minute drive and Rowan was miserable the whole way. He didn't even meow and he's otherwise a very vocal cat.

The vet could see that Rowan was ill. She felt his stomach and he cried out. When she took his temperature, it was over 40°C.  She was very concerned about that. She then took Rowan to another room for a basic scan and some blood tests. The results were fine but because of his temperature and stomach soreness, we (Kayleigh and I) decided to leave Rowan overnight so he could have more thorough tests and a detailed ultrasound the next day (the same day really, it was 2am.

Later that morning I cancelled my volunteering at the Salvos because I didn't know if or when we could pick Rowan up. The vet rang Kayleigh and said he'd thrown up once more but his temperature was going down. The ultrasound found that some lymph nodes were enlarged but nothing else. The vet wanted us to leave Rowan there all day so that they could be sure his temperature would continue to drop.

I ended up going to work until 6:30pm and after I got home Kayleigh rang the vet once more. She said that Rowan had eaten and kept it down which was a really good sign. His temperature was also normal. So we went to collect him.

We were in the waiting room when a vet nurse brought Rowan out in his carrier. He had his back to us but as soon as he heard Kayleigh's voice he turned around and meowed. The vet told us that Rowan had not been amused by his stay in hospital. I'm not surprised - both front legs, throat and stomach had been shaved. He'd been on intravenous fluids the whole time which was probably uncomfortable.

And well, $1600 later, he's fine. He has pain medication and anti-nausea medication. Not long after he was home, he ate dinner and was playing again.

Thank you. He seems fine now.

We have a new cat problem. Mollie is nearly 16 and she's gone downhill in the last month or so. She can't walk very well and can no longer jump on my bed or any of the chairs. She does this strange very loud meow that I don't know the meaning of. Like if she's in pain or uncomfortable or she wants attention. She's also not eating as much as she used to. And food has always meant a lot to Mollie.

I don't think it will be long before she crosses the rainbow bridge.
