My brother is learning to spell still

He has spellings to learn for his homework all the time

If you help him with his spelling, maybe you can try some Smarties too.

For my daughter, I would tell her three letters (or less) at a time and at first reward her for doing them too, then for putting them all together.  We did them verbally and also with magnetic letters on the refrigerator, so she could both see and touch them.  She hated writing, so we rarely did that except for the "practice test" after she learned them, but just before her real test at school.

We have those magnetic letters for the fridge as well
And squares that can be stuck together to make up numbers, to help him with his maths
lol He hates doing his spelling
He gets upset really easily if he gets some wrong as well, even though a lot of the time it's just becuase they're new words he hasn't learned yet
Sometimes I worry he'll end up like me - I had no self-esteem in high school and was overly sensitive to criticism
I wouldn't be surprised if he was like that too
And it would suck if that held him back too, as he is clever
