Can anyone help, Laptop trouble?
« on: March 14, 2009, 12:54:34 PM »
I have an HP laptop thats a few years old.  It had a removeable base, with a disc drive in the base, the laptop itself has no disc drive.
Anyway, I broke the base, so I just have the laptop.  I ordered an external DVD player/disc drive.  It plays the movies, but the films are choppy and keep jerking,stop-starting, its the same in windows player and vlc player.  I downloaded a load of codecs, k-lite, but its still quite bad.  They used to play fine when I used the base-drive with the same laptop and players.  I don't know much about graphic/sound cards, but I know the laptop can handle movies because I have good quality movies on the hard drive that play fine.  I would appreiciate if anyone has any ideas.

Have you tried the external drive on another computer? My guess is that it might be something to do with the USB 1.1 connection....
