What is it that in the UK gingers have such a bad rep along with red heads,  I find them attractive well the females at least

I have no damn clue; in the U.S. I don't think there's any stigma associated with red hair (with women, it's actually considered uniquely attractive- there is the streotype of the 'firey redhead').  Is it legit generally considered unattractive in the U.K.?

I hadn't heard any either, except an expression "redheaded stepchild".

It was common to bully gingers in Sweden before. Pippi Longstocking gets bullied, but she kicks the bullies' arses, of course.  8)

Red and gingers got a bad reputation here too. Or at least they had. Partly old superstitions I guess. And being a minority.

Expressions like 'Red hair and pointy chin, the devil lives within'.

So yep more chance you got bullied as a kid when you had red hair.
In women it mostly is considered attractive I think.

Nowadays so many people have red hair out of a package from the chemist that that red and ginger hardly stand out anymore.

Happens here in Australia too. Probably because it isn't that common and kids with red hair generally look different, so its the usual reasons there. In adults its just half hearted teasing, nothing serious.

My sister has red hair, so growing up it was carrot top, strike a light, stuff like that.

I have a good friend that lives in upstate NY that happens to be a red head.   She is pretty hot too.   I don't normally find myself attracted to red heads.   I wouldn't say that I am biased against them at all.   I have a few red heads in my family actually (father's side of the family is Irish).
:P   Internets are super serious.

i don't think she ever used violence. she just lifted things. like bamse. :P he threw the baddies around but didn't hurt them.

i've always thought red heads are rarities but all the brits i know use ginger as an insult. it's funny.

why is it that there is a shitload of redheads in britain and they get teased, but there are loads fewer of them elsewhere and they are seen as cool and interesting and hot?
