My Grandmother is in Hospice.
« on: February 17, 2009, 05:34:36 PM »
She 97 and does not eat when she does eat it not much.

She is slowly dying because of not eating.

I wish that she would be die soon.

The waiting for Her to die is getting unbearable.

I hope it will be soon.

She really can not do much anymore.

Not even family get together anymore.

With Her dementia She can not remember anybody anymore.

She does a lot of sleeping though out the day anymore.

That sucks. My Grandmother was 3.5 months shy of her 97th birthday when she died last summer. It is awful to see someone you love in such a condition. I hope for her sake, and your family, that it doesn't last much longer.

97 is very old. I hope she'll die soon and peacefully. Great grandma died three weeks short of her 90th birthday. She was a true Aspie by the way.

Hope you're OK, Kevv.

I'm so sorry for you and your family, Kevv.  It's hard to see someone you love decline like that.

My grandmother had Alzheimers and a broken hip which they tried to fix but she kept popping it back out again, so she was bedridden and they put a feeding tube into her stomach when she couldn't eat enough anymore, so she wound up dying of pneumonia more than a year later.

Even She broke Her hip two years before this.

She only did well for a year.

This last year has gotten worse.

Maybe She wants to die in Her own way in the end.

I don't really know though.

Sorry kevv.  :(

Lost my grandmother to Alzheimers too.

Towards the end my grandfather said she started having "conversations" with people who had been dead for years.  She remembered people from the past but she didn't remember anyone else.

Great grandma was fine until her landlord "improved" her flat, so she had to move to a senior home. There she quickly became senile. She could recognize dad but not me the last times I saw her in life.

She had had a conversation with a person called Ruby but nobody knows a Ruby in the family. A big question mark on that.

Mine talked to one that my grandfather said was a childhood friend, she would talk to this friend, a brother of hers, and her mom like she was a kid again herself.
