lol,  when the spaniards come to those lands to mostly take the  resources of Chile, they just wanted do that and send those resources extracted to the kingdom of spain, but for unknown reasons  they stayed in the country, while Pedro de Valdivia started the colonization of cities the first of them was Santiago,  he named at first as Santiago de Nueva extremadura in honor to his home city in spain, and of that way started the foundation and wars by colonize the country, the ones that wanted be controlled by spain,and those who wanted be independient of spain.

those times nobody knows about earthquakes and such events or natural catasthrophes
