Eating out
« on: January 17, 2009, 06:11:13 PM »
I'm curious what do you guys do.  I personally hate eating inside any type of restaurant when alone and will always eat in the car.   Alone in a restaurant always makes me uncomfortable

I don't like eating in a car. It feels cramped and wrong - cars are for driving, not eating in.

Restaurants put me on edge though. Sometimes I enjoy that, sometimes I get take out and look for a quiet bench somewhere.

It depends on the restaurant. If the closest place is McJunkfood, I can as well eat in the car. Otherwise I might go in and eat.

Added a reply for that

I like to eat out but it getting too expensive. Nowadays I just get a spicy chicken sandwich at carl's jr ($1) or a veggie burger @ In'n'Out. OK w/eating in as long as not toomany people and/or too noisy. Sig other feels same.

I remember when I had dinner with Linda in a Chinese restaurant in Norrköping and she gave me desert in the toilet. I wonder how many girls who do rimjobs just after dinner.

Stranger Still--Peter Hammill

Stranger still in another town,
how normal to sit out the dance,
eating the good meal by myself,
toasting the empty glass
and they're already setting out the next place,
already forgetting about the last.
No, nothing could be less strange:
in entropy
no change, no change, no change.

No danger in a normal life,
better steady down the adrenalin pump.
Excess refraction in the mirror
only leads to the quantum jump....
Oh, but it leaves me in limbo -
how strange, what a stranger I become.
No, no, nothing could be less strange,
in entropy
no change, no change, no change.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now,
I don't tear at the meat with my hands.
If I've become a man of the world somehow
that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Keep on shuffling the menu
and the order never comes on time.
No, there's only diffraction patterns,
no reading between the lines,
only the rate of emission,
and reason allows no rime.
Nothing could be less strange
in entropy
no change, no change, no change.
No, nothing could be less strange...

Entropy...
... a stranger, a worldly man.

I'm interpreting on the road as a fairly long trip the way you wrote it PARTS. When I drive for 4 or more hours I and get hungry I try to find a decent, reasonably priced place to sit and get out of the vehicle for a little while. For shorter trips, or when I don't want to lose time (like driving to Tooele Utah) I'll go through a drive through and eat while driving.

I have stopped and ate. Because I drive, I do not like to eat as I drive. So I stop and go in. If I brought food with me, I eat in the car but I pull over and eat.

Car, or I take it home.

I very rarely eat out, I spent years working in a bakery combo deli  w/hot food, a few years before that I worked in a couple of restaurants.

Basically being around the other employees and the experiences that I bore witness to cured me of any desire to ever eat out again in this lifetime. :zombiefuck:

1.  Answer to poll- I rarely eat out alone except when I'm on-campus.  Occasionally I'll actually sit down and eat alone in one of the cafe/cafeterias.
2.  In terms of awesomeness:

I really don't give a shit. If someone looks at me while i'm eating in public i'll probably open mouth smile so food oozes out, or flip them off. >:D
