Google Street View.
« on: August 29, 2008, 08:50:09 PM »
Has anyone used Google Street View? I looked at schools I used to go to and places I used to live. I have found it useful to look at places I need to go to so I can see beforehand what they look like. Images can be fuzzy sometimes.

I even found the uni I go to:

It looks like a cool university, Renaeden.  Modern architecture.

That is the better building of the two (being a very small uni). The other one looks like a shearing shed. :D

How can you get it so close up?  I tried it first with Warsaw but it didn't have street view, then I tried it in London but it looked shit  :(

I thought Street View only worked within the US: :-\

I guess it depends on how recently it was done and the cameras they used. I have found that they haven't been to places that I thought it would be obvious to go to and have gone to places like where I used to live ages ago which was in a cul-de-sac.

Sometimes it is shit camera work here as well, found the Autism Association in Perth and I wouldn't have been able to tell what it was unless I already knew beforehand. Can vaguely make out the sign of a puzzle piece on the wall of the building, that's all.

I don't find any birds eye views, but they call it "The Golden Coast" where I live.  :)

No street views of the place I grew up, just a blurry satellite pic.  :(

Street view not available where my parents live but I saw their house from the air.

I also saw my car in the street view parked in front of my aunt's and uncle's house.
