I've known 2 Aspegers people, and 1 person who had OCD and Anxiety who all had american like accents...Even though they were all Australian and had never been to the US.

You sound panicked to be honest if anything, your speech was a little too quick for my liking. It was probably over-prepared as well, never read out a speech verbatim. Just outline your speech instead.

Are you a stand up comedian or something? You do realise that I have aspergers don't you?
Yes. I also know, contrary to popular belief, that all these skills can be acquired with practise. The best public speakers in most cases began as the worst.
You're having difficulties in your public speaking classes I presume.
Of course, but nothing that is insurmountable. My main weakness is lack of practise.
Keep it up then.
Why not practice by expounding your views to the internet?
Many reasons:
  • I have people irl to practise on, and failing that anyone can grab a mirror.
  • I am flu-filled now so can't do my best speech
  • I have no microphone
  • Privacy

Poor excuses:
  • mirrors are a poor substitute and people irl don't always tell you what they are thinking
  • you have permanent flu?
  • you can buy one for £1.99
  • fair enough

I never give excuses, just reasons.
  • People on Youtube tell you even less than those irl. Plus I am actually doing classes with people who are total experts, the guy running it is actually a former World Champion.
  • Seems like it :( Its the first couple of weeks so everyone gets it.
  • Not in Durham you cant, and a 1.99 microphone tends to be crappy at best.
  • Glad you agree

Thought it would be from watching too much tv.

Mostly, but our oldest had an American teacher in his first yeah of early intervention at Mentone Autistic School (Now called Southern Autistic School). So that took years of correction by us to get rid of most of that.

Hey gal, you're doing good. Keep fighting the good fight, and remember how many of us are going through it along with you. Might make it easier to go on camera.
