Dedicate a song to someone...
« on: November 12, 2008, 03:46:40 PM »
I used to do this as "random member", but it is nice to be able to call out those "special" people outside The Forum too.

I would like to dedicate the following to an old friend Bethany...I'm sorry!

"August & September" by The The

Suddenly last summer
I started going out of my head
In a tiny hotel room
Lying naked on a bed
I knew what you were doing, and I knew what you'd done
Your life with me was ending, your new life had begun
But I was cursing your name, and I was cursing that room
And I was praying for the strength to stop loving you

I started writing you the letter
Which turned into the book
I was gonna reach across the ocean
And force you to look

But what kind of man was I?
Who would sacrify your happiness to satisfy his pride
What kind of man was I?
Who would delay your destiny to appease his tiny mind

Then you came back to me and I went down on one knee
With a glint in my eyes and a rose between my teeth
And I pushed out my tongue for you to see
That I'd been dying of a thirst for your company
Then you quenched my loneliness with your tears
And our clothes fell away as we rolled back the years
But we could't deny it because we could not admit it
If our love was too strong to die
Or we were just too weak to kill it
Was our love too strong to die?
Or were we just too weak to kill it?

Every moment in that room
I closed my eyes in prayer
Every moment I awoke
I clenched my teeth in prayer

What kind of man was I?
Who would sacrify your happiness to satisfy his pride
What kind of man was I?
Who would delay your destiny to appease his tiny mind

Who could delay your destiny to appease his aching swollen pride
Who could delay your destiny to appease his screaming little mind

You're mine

Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems

I dedicate this song to Lucifer:

"Devil Inside" by INXS

Here comes the woman
With the look in her eye
Raised on leather
With flesh on her mind
Words as weapons sharper than knives
Makes you wonder how the other half die
Other half die

Here comes the man
With the look in his eye
Fed on nothing
But full of pride
Look at them go
Look at them kick
Makes you wonder how the other half live

The devil inside
The devil inside
Every single one of us the devil inside

The devil inside
The devil inside
Every single one of us the devil inside

Here comes the world
With the look in its eye
Future uncertain but certainly slight
Look at the faces
Listen to the bells
It's hard to believe we need a place called hell
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems

I dedicate the following song to Odeon:

"Imagine" by John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems

I dedicate the following song to Callaway:

"As Tears Fall" by The Samples

If you need water
I'm your rain
If you need fire
I'm your flame
If you're resisting to go or stay
Let all the angels take you away

I will carry you to the end
When life is broken all will mend
If where I'm walking isn't far enough then I'll walk farther

If you need water
I'm your rain
If you need fire
I'm your flame
I hope our children remember this good

We threw those ashes
And there we stood

As tears fall off our faces
As tears fall off our faces
Off our faces

Thank you, Trigger.  I listened to it here and I really like it.

I dedicate this one to you:

"Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

I dedicate the following song to Nocturnalist!:

"Killer Inside Me" by MC 900 Ft Jesus

You probably see me hanging around
I'm a very familiar face in this town
A day doesn’t go by I don’t meet
A lot of my friends walking down the street
I’m never too busy to stop by the way
And I’ve always got something pleasant to say
Maybe some perceptive thoughts about the weather
Or the latest news from Wall Street...whatever
I can stand around all day making small talk
Gushing platitudes, blocking the sidewalk
Tying people up for hours a piece
My one big talent is shooting the breeze
When they start to squirm, I really get going
But only my half-face smile is showing
Why can't they see what I’m trying to hide?
I’m busting a gut, laughing on the inside
Sing this song when they say hello
I can see they think I’m a little bit slow
But after awhile with me they look dazed
Their eyes are covered with a doughnut glaze
I really start to cook when I see that look
I hit 'em with every cliché in the book
Their knees wobble and they start to weave
It’s like they're begging for permission to leave
They think they're having a brush with stupidity
I don’t laugh, even though it’s killing me
Watching 'em wilt like day-old flowers
Ticking off the minutes as they turn into hours
They're wondering how much more they can take
I give 'em a friendly smile and a handshake
We say goodbye, so very politely
Now say hello to the killer inside me

(drop it)

Everyone has their doubts about my sanity
But nothing happens ‘cause they all feel sorry for me
I got the whole town under my thumb
And all I gotta do is keep acting dumb
“Oh that boy Lou,” they say, “what a guy!”
“A little on the slow side, but wouldn’t hurt a fly.”
“And such a gentleman.” - “Oh yes, I know!”
“Sure can talk your ear off though.”
I tip my hat and pretend I don’t hear
Grinning like a half-wit from ear to ear
I can think of a thousand ways to say hello
So I start through 'em all, goin' real slow
They listen hard and act like they care
How can they be so completely unaware
Of the truth? The answer is always denied me
So I introduce 'em to the killer inside me

(feel the blast)
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems

I dedicate this song to PMS Elle, for her advocacy of using Jimmy Hats:

"Jimmy" by Boogie Down Productions

The J the I the M the M
The Y the J the I the M
It's Jimmy!
It's Jimmy!

The J the I the M the M
The Y the J the I the M
It's Jimmy!
It's Jimmy!

Here is a message to the Super Hoes
Just keep in mind when Jimmy grows
It grows and grows and grows so let it
But keep in mind about the epidemic
When Jimmy releases boy it pleases
But what do you do about all these diseases?
Jimmy is Jimmy no matter what
So take care of Jimmy ‘cause you know what's up
'Cause now in winter AIDS attacks
So run out and get your Jimmy Hats
It costs so little for a pack of three
They're Jimmy Hats for the winter attack
Good for a present, great for lovers
Demonstrated by The Jungle Brothers
Protect your Jimmy and keep it fresh
They're Jimmy Hats by KRS

So, remember you're never too old (Jimmy is wearin' a hat)
Remember you're never too bold (Jimmy is wearin' a hat)
Do me a favor, wear your hat
So Jimmy...will have the opportunity to come back

Well, Red Alert is down with BDP
Teachin' you all about Jimbrowski
I don't wanna hear that you're not with it
Turn around and see your butt in a clinic
Havin' doctors just poke at Jimmy
Let me express what now what's in me
Too many people take too many risks
Too many people I see get dissed
Jimmy Hats are now in style
'Cause you can't trust a big butt and a smile
Some are dry and some lubricated
Many companies make and made it
So all you Super-Hoes, wear your hat
'Cause drippin' Jimmies is straight up whack
Keep in mind about Jimbrowski
Jimmy Hats by BDP
The J, the I, the M
The M, the Y, the J, the I...
It's Jimmy!
It's Jimmy!
The J, the I, the M, the M
The Y, the J, the I, the M
It's Jimmy!

So, remember you're never too old (Jimmy is wearin' a hat)
Remember you're never too bold (Jimmy is wearin' a hat)
Do me a favor, wear your hat
So Jimmy...will have the opportunity to come back

Two dedications in a row!   :zoinks:
it is well known that PMS Elle is evil.
I think you'd fit in a 12" or at least a 16" firework mortar
You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.

^You must be very popular.

I dedicate this song to Calandale:

"Rockin' Robin" by Bobby Day

He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight

Every little swallow, every chickadee
Every little bird in the tall oak tree
The wise old owl, the big black crow
Flapping them wings sayin' go bird go

Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight

A wordy little raven at the bird's first dance
Taught him how to do the bop and it was grand
He started goin' steady and bless my soul
He out popped the buzzard and the oriole

He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet

Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight
Crazy, I'm halfway to crazy
Suicide would waste me
Homicide would break me
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Tongue tied and tied to the tongue
Oh, is life as bad as dreams
I guess that's just the way it seems
