Do vegans have cheeses made from rice or soya milk? Just wonderin'.

Here is a vegan cheese made from soy, which is casein free and gluten free:

No, and if they eat normal cheese, the veggie police come and revoke their veggie license.

I don't recommend soya products for guys; they contain estrogenic chemicals that can mess with the male endocrine system.

You win this thread because that's most unsettling to even think about.

I had normal cheese in my white bread sandwich. Is that allowed?

Is white bread a no-no?

Eat whatever you want.  White bread is something that I, personally, don't eat for health reasons, as is cheese.

Naught wrong with eating some cheese.

Vegan cheese is supposed to be good for you though.

I'm alright if I eat cottage cheese though.

So far I'm managing the lacto-veggie diet. Hurrah.

What are the health reasons that make a veggie diet a good idea?
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

pes, i'd advise going for lactoveggie to start with - veganism is pretty extreme, unless you know what you're doing.  stick to dairy first, and then, if you still want to, go for veganism when you're used to it.

soya products are generally revolting, although they have got chemicals which are similar to female hormones, as pete says.

veggie cheese is veggie cos of the rennet, as normal rennet is made from animal products (calves' stomachs, basically).

don't go beserk straight away, cos you need to know how to get a balanced diet.  when i turned veggie (i was eighteen), i didn't eat much meat before anyway, and knew a lot about food and nutrition.  if you google "vegetarianism", and then the UK pages, there are loads of sites with good advice: try the vegetarian society, peta, etc.

What are the health reasons that make a veggie diet a good idea?

improved digestion; improved immune system, quicker to heal; lower cholesterol (if one doesn't gorge on cheese and eggs); lower risk of heart disease; less prone to bowel and some other cancers...

the quicker to heal one i discovered by accident.  i had a pyonidal sinus, which was 2 x 2 inches on the outside, and went in 6 inches.  it healed up so quickly the medical staff in the hospital were shocked.  someone then said it was cos i was veggie.  then, years later, i found out that asian women are encouraged to go on a veggie diet for a couple of weeks after they have their nose or ears pierced, to speed up the healing process.  interesting, eh?  no  idea how it works, though, and i've tried to find out.

Do you know where I can get rice milk? Asda doesn't sell any, so I had to get soya.
