Fucking roaches!

I've been killing roaches in my apartment for weeks.  Even after pest control visited, the roaches are still here.  I bought a pack of flyswatters, one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom, and splatter them with a flyswatter whenever I see them.  I spray Raid along the baseboards and behind the stove fairly often.  I've put bait trays behind the stove and other places the cats won't get them.  And still, I've got fucking pill-sized roaches running around.  I kill 4 or 5 a day.

This evening, I saw one crawling out of one of the electrical outlets in my kitchen.  (In the US, smaller roaches can fit through the hole for the ground connector.)  A very light application of Raid and several roaches crawled out and hopefully died soon afterward.  Then I noticed the same thing with the other outlet in the kitchen.  I guess I've got junction boxes full of roach crap and will need to call maintenance to come and replace those two outlets before they become a fire hazard.

I guess after I have my supper, I'll get slightly drunk and watch Creepshow.

I would call the apartment manager and have them make the pest control company come back.

Maybe they didn't spray one of the apartments and the roaches went there and then reinfested the other apartments.  Whatever they did or didn't do, they obviously missed some of the roaches and they need to kill them too.

When I lived with my sister, cockroaches started a nest inside the answering machine. Blech!

Not the little ones that live inside.  In Florida the big ones fly but they live outside.

They like living in electronics.  At work we had a guy get them in his van after finding a radio in a dumpster and putting it in his van

The roaches are not the supper.  I had chips and salsa for supper last night, and put the remaining corn chips in a zip=loc to keep the vermin off my food.  Tomorrow's Saturday, so I'll have to take some time to pull out the stove and clean under it.

We don't get cockroaches here, but we do get vast plagues of slugs in the garden, and sometimes find them gliding around the kitchen surfaces.  We also get a lot of spiders in the house, and ground beetles (Broscus cephalotes) that scuttle around the floor in search of prey.  Waggy likes the ground beetles, since they're energetic and tough, so she can keep chasing them, pawing at them, picking them up with her mouth and dropping them for 10 minutes or more without them being harmed, while more fragile things like spiders get squished right away and stop being fun.  She doesn't bother with the slugs, since they're too slow to be interesting and they have thick, bitter mucus, though she eats snails sometimes (and probably gets nasty parasites from them, but she has a monthly worming treatment that will help a bit).

Worked at a place years ago that had them pretty bad, exterminator told me at the time he could spray until hell froze over but if you didn't find the nest and get them all it didn't do alot of good, they'd keep coming back. Damn things will hide in the walls and can build up an immunity to the poison.

I hate bugs, the spiders I get in the basement are enough to freak me out.

They can survive on most anything like the glue that holds boxes together and fit through tiny holes

I think I nailed their nests when I caught them crawling out of the outlets and sprayed over them.  I've had to swat a few since then, but their numbers seem to have decreased.  Still gotta clean behind the stove and have maintenance come look at the junction boxes.

As soon as I see a roach, I stomp on it, then flush it down the toilet.

Well, I did pull out the stove and clean under it like I said I would.  Vacuumed up a dead roach, a bunch of ancient popcorn and cat kibble, and some sticky gray dust.  Then, I used up a bunch of cleaning wipes to get the rest of the crud out.  Most notably, I scooped up about seven bait trays from all the past attempts to kill roaches (by dropping a Combat or other brand of bait tray behind the stove).  I haven't seen a single one of the motherfuckers since, and I hope it stays that way.

Thankfully haven't had cockroaches here but we get ants every now and then. Doesn't help when GA leaves food in the computer room.
