Like don't be barely in control or barely have your feet firmly planted and risk slipping or losing your balance. Kickback is the biggest danger with chainsaws.
If you are going to buy one, get a stihl. Guy that uses them all the time and deals with people who use them all the time said that is the brand. Cheap and can't get it started sucks. My brother has one of the sears or someplace cheap ones that is hell to get started.
i went with the lower end of the professional models, but I'm in vermont with a few acres and firewood to cut. It would be overkill for somebody living in the suburbs.
