Time for a new power tool
« on: October 04, 2008, 04:48:07 PM »
I need a chainsaw.

Something fairly light, easy to use, probably the most I'll be cutting with it is 5 to 6 in diameter saplings or small limbs.

I am getting too damn old to hack at this shit with a bow saw all day every time my mom wants stuff pruned or cut out. ::)

Open to recommendations.

I got a poulan one with an eighteen in bar not long ago going to use it tomorrow.  If your just doing small stuff and have a little yard the electric one could be more what you want

I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

http://www.stihlusa.com/chainsaws/

real dangerous thing to be using, don't ever drop your gaurd or attention to what you are doing or get lazy and take chances you don't have to with one. Like don't be barely in control or barely have your feet firmly planted and risk slipping or losing your balance. Kickback is the biggest danger with chainsaws.

If you are going to buy one, get a stihl. Guy that uses them all the time and deals with people who use them all the time said that is the brand. Cheap and can't get it started sucks. My brother has one of the sears or someplace cheap ones that is hell to get started.

i went with the lower end of the professional models, but I'm in vermont with a few acres and firewood to cut. It would be overkill for somebody living in the suburbs.

Get a strapping young lad to hack away at them with his shirt off?
