Was at my mate Rob's place a couple of weeks ago, and we were reminiscing our early teens whereby we threw unfurled coat-hangers at the underneath of adjacent powerlines to produce "fireworks" one drunken new-years' eve.
After many throws we were able to reproduce the effect in the modern day
Delinquency revisited.
We originally got the idea from his elder brother, who with his own mates did the same trick some years before our first attempts.
However, they twisted 5 or 6 coathangers together and caught their lightning rod
on top of the parallel lines, fusing their rod to the lines and taking out the power of the entire neighbourhood.
Reinforced powerlines out front of Rob's house serve as a reminder - though not a deterent - of the activity.
